Who we are.

Our founder is Zathur, a balance druid, whose experience in other WoW guilds lead him to create one that had more depth than the usual omnipotent-sounding guilds so prevalent on a PvP server. While technically sound, previous guild raid leaders or persons in charge of various things were often too young to understand people and relational concepts, creating havoc and drama unintentionally. Some of these created a gear-centrific culture more interested in collecting the “next great thing” for themselves and close friends. As a result, on June 13, 2007, The Nemeton was created.

Vahe, a restoration shaman, has been an officer with The Nemeton since it was a week old, working with Zathur to create the flourishing and respected guild that it is today. This website is the result of her work and the collaboration of some talented guild members. Vahe has been Guilmaster since December 2008.

Maureen lives on Vancouver Island and enjoys the sports that come with life in a coastal city. She is a dragon boat racer and coach in the summer and works with her husband in his physician recruitment service.

Having seen the light and given up his evil horde warlock to come play on Ursin back at the release of BC, Elrohir is now an amazing druid tank with a passion for feral dps. Having been part of other guilds on the server, he came to The Nemeton looking for an opportunity to contribute to raids. Finding both friendliness and a community of great people, he leads The Nemeton raiding teams with a sense of humour and a great deal of patience.

A mechanical engineer living in Chicago, Dave has two great passions … his wife and Grey Goose.

Lightcloud is the latest in a list of amazing characters who use 'cloud' as a patronym, the most notable being Silvercloud, the warrior. Whether fending off horde masses in battlegrounds, keeping raid tanks still swinging their weapons in desperate situations or raid dps lighting up bosses, Lightcloud can always be counted on in the clutch.

Outside of the game, you can find David in a lab, pondering biochemical properties of various microscopic beasties.

Remiah has chosen the path of a protection warrior, guarding us from the likes of Patchwerk, Illidan Stormrage and even the occasional ferocious green slime. Pre-Lich King, he was one of the few Alliance players on Ursin to own the Bulwark of Azzinoth, a distinction he carried proudly. Now that Lich King is out, he spends his days – when not charging headlong into raid or heroic instances – near some sort of fishing hole.

Dave is an business student who is considering more education once he finishes his classes this Spring.

Our newest officer, the Dwarven hunter When, can best be described with two words ... understated intelligence. Whether leading a gang of rowdies into uncharted territory, providing arrow-slinging tips for our hunter crew, or working on treatises for our forums, When's calm demeanor inspires confidence ... not just in him, but in what we can all accomplish together. His prized vanilla acquisition ... [Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers] ... is testament to his talent.

An avid fan of manga and anime, JL lives in New York, but finds Pacific time zones work well for his raiding schedules.

What we are

Themed around druidic culture, we pride ourselves on being a friendly group of adults who take pleasure in helping fellow guildies as they level and go about their daily play. We allow members to play their character in a spec of their own choosing and will work them into our raids as we can. Having said that, if a players chooses a spec that does not lay down top dps or provide necessary raid buffs, invitations to raids might not come until we have instances on farm status.

We are an end-game raiding guild with somewhat of a laid back approach to attendance. We do expect that members make it when they sign up for a raid, but we also know that juggling work schedules, kids, homework and real life has precedence over a game.

Just what is a nemeton anyway?

Close to earth and nature, druids observed the waxing and waning of seasons within a grove of sacred trees, oak being chiefest in the hierarchical importance of woods. This circle of trees, which would bear witness to the festivals marking the march of seasons, was called a nemeton.

Our tabard

Just as the ancient druidic nemeton observed holy rites and celebrations, the world tree on our tabard symbolizes a collection of people observing the formation of something equally exceptional – friendship. The colors are the soft emeralds of the summer forest – from treetops reaching for the morning sun to the deep shade of the forest floor. A green tabard sets us apart from the myriad of pink, purple, and black so prevalent among other Ursin guilds and gives us a unique identifying characteristic easily spotted from afar.
